It was a little over a year ago that Ike Turner died (his funeral was a year ago today), it wasn't something that was ever really in the news when it happened and I've never particularly understood why. He wrote the first ever Rock and Roll song, he was the first musician to apply distortion to his guitar, think of how many musicians have indirectly taken influence from what he pioneered. Unfortunately he's more well known for being vilified in Tina Turners book/film.

Ike died aged 76 from a Cocaine overdose. I wouldn't normally post a tribute or anything like that in a blog but I love everything this guy's ever done.

RIP Ike Wister Turner.
